The Satellite Town Ring Road (STRR) is a visionary infrastructure project developed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to improve regional connectivity and urban mobility in and around the Bangalore Metropolitan Region (BMR). Designed as a 367 km long ring road, the STRR connects multiple satellite towns surrounding Bangalore, easing the pressure on the city’s core infrastructure and promoting balanced urban growth.
Project Overview
The STRR is being developed in three major phases under the Bharatmala Pariyojana scheme, a nationwide highway development program. The road links major towns such as Devanahalli, Doddaballapur, Nelamangala, Hoskote, Kanakapura, Ramanagara, Magadi, and Anekal, effectively creating a ring that enables the decongestion of central Bangalore.
- Length: 367 kilometers
- Type: Access-controlled expressway
- Status: Under phased construction (as of 2025)
- Executing Authority: NHAI
- Estimated Cost: ₹17,000+ Crores
- Number of Lanes: 4 to 6 lanes, expandable
Key Objectives
- Decongest Bangalore’s city center by diverting heavy and long-distance traffic.
- Enhance logistics and freight movement around industrial corridors.
- Improve connectivity between satellite towns and upcoming SEZs.
- Boost regional development and real estate growth in suburban areas.
Strategic Importance
The STRR holds immense significance for urban planning and economic expansion in Bangalore. By interlinking outer towns, it facilitates smoother logistics movement and acts as a catalyst for industrial, commercial, and residential development in these zones. The expressway will drastically reduce travel times and improve the efficiency of transport for both goods and commuters.
For example, travel between Devanahalli and Doddaballapur, or Hoskote and Kanakapura, will become seamless, which directly benefits nearby industrial parks, tech hubs, and logistics centers.
Proximity to Prestige Gardenia Estates
Prestige Gardenia Estates, located in Devanahalli, benefits significantly from its proximity to the STRR. With one of the STRR corridors passing close to Devanahalli, the project offers seamless connectivity to multiple parts of Bangalore and nearby towns. This makes it an attractive destination for homebuyers, investors, and professionals working in aerospace SEZs, tech parks, and logistics hubs.
- Distance from STRR corridor: Approximately 5-6 km
- Connected Towns: Doddaballapur, Hoskote, Nelamangala, and beyond
The STRR’s access-controlled infrastructure will ensure quicker travel to the Kempegowda International Airport, KIADB Aerospace SEZ, and emerging hubs in North and East Bangalore.
